Museum of Socialist Art


The Museum of socialist art is one of the newest museums in Sofia, built on the initiative of the Ministry of Culture and opened on September 19, 2011.  It is an affiliate of the National Art Gallery and collects, preserves and exhibits examples of art from the period 1944 - 1989 in Bulgaria, known as the "era of socialism."

The museum consists of a sculpture park with an area of 7500 square meters, and for now it has 77 monumental works of sculpture. The exposure in the exhibition hall covers an area of 550 sq.m and initially showed 60 works of painting and 25 pieces of plastic easel. The museum has a video room where will be screened documentaries from the era of socialism.
