Тoday the repertoire of the National Opera and Ballet includes together with the well recognized classical titles, a number of unknown or not performed for long productions. World famous Bulgarian opera singers take part in gala performances and concerts, some of them having started their stellar career on the stage of the Sofia opera house.

Since its establishment until today the National Opera and Ballet has fulfilled its main function as a cultural centre for preservation and development of the traditions of the national music and stage art.
