Sharing ROUTES
Like most cities nowadays, Sofia is a patchwork of cultures, a place where different traditions collide, intersect and flourish. The movement of people and their culture and traditions, the migrating art forms and motives from the 4-8th century to the present day have forged bonds with Europe, well before Europe was united in an economic system. We will explore the creative worlds and cultural diasporas generated by different kinds of migration, and examine the ways in which art and artists cross and re-cross various boundaries. The programme stream opens up the question of how aesthetics itself migrates, transforming not only its own practices and traditions, but also the very nature of our being in the world, as subjects producing, as well as produced by, the cultures in which we live.
