The programme is designed to anticipate the future, to test the direction of urban development, the use of resources for culture, the new ways of creating and participating. Sofia will act as a laboratory for designers, architects, artists, scientists, with ample room for experimentation; a laboratory in which cultural and societal innovation will be generated, resulting in new artistic ecology, new imaginative policies, a new dynamic between artists and communities. It will feel open-ended with a number of options for further or alternative growth.
